About
Everyday we find new technology that make our lives easier, communication better, cheaper and faster. The list can go on and on but the point is most of us are already deeply involved in our ministries, churches and day to day lives. We often don’t have the time or energy to know where to start when it comes to technology. That is where the Open Source Church comes in. Our main goal is to educate your church, your ministries and even yourselves to leverage technology to further the spread of the Gospel message.
But what is a open source source church anyways you might ask. Well the term “open source” started with people writing programming code. These people were often fed up high priced software that just didn’t work and often had limited support. Some people with programming experience decided to fix their problem by creating new software; which in many cases was better than the paid. But in a twist they open the source code of their software to everyone and allowed people to comment, change and use the software as they needed. This in turn created communities of people, all working together for a common cause. Some people are programmers, testers, documentation, designers but everyone works together to make the software the best it can be.
Today you can literally find thousands of programs that are open source. It is likely you are viewing this web page because of open source software on the router that serves the page, the server that this website is located on, the software that actual runs this website and maybe even your browser if you are using Firefox. Anything that you may want or need to do using software likely has a open source counterpart that will cost you nothing to use.
This brings us back to the Church. The early church worked on some of these same ideals. They had communities of people that work together for a common cause. The church was using every resource that they had at the time to spread the gospel message. Moving forward to today we have a abundance of tools that we can use to commincate to others. In most cases we are so involved in our ministries it leaves us little time to know where to even start. The Open Source Church will work together as a community to educate your ministry in latest technology.
We do this because of the great love we have for our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We pray that wisdom, knowledge, understanding and the power of the Holy Spirit be poured out on all those who come across the Open Source Church. We pray that everything we do is a blessing upon your church, adding to the kingdom and spreading the Gospel message around the world. All the power, glory and gain we do for you in your powerful name Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
